Dear Officers, dear Sirs and Mesdames

I am pleased to invite you to this year’s annual general assembly of AVIA – the Association of Swiss Air Force Officers.

Together with renowned light artist Gerry Hofstetter, we are returning to the birthplaceof military aviation in Switzerland for the closing event of our 100th anniversary. This is an opportunity to celebrate aviation, art, and the traditions of the Swiss Air Force.

On June 19, 2026, we invite you to an exclusive evening with General Jeffrey L.

Harrigian. General Harrigian graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy (Class of 1985) and has served in many flying and staff assignments during his distinguished career. Starting out as an Air Liaison Officer and Forward Air Controller on the A/OA-37, he has accumulated more than 4,100 hours in the F-22, F-15C and the MQ-1. He is a distinguished graduate of the U.S. Air Force’s Fighter Weapons School as well and has flown combat missions in support of operations Just Cause, Desert Storm and Inherent Resolve. In his last assignment, General Harrigian held the post of Commander, U.S. Air Forces in Europe; Commander, U.S. Air Forces Africa; Commander, Allied Air Command, headquartered at Ramstein Air Base, Germany; and Director, Joint Air Power Competence Centre, Kalkar, Germany.

Although conceived as a festive event, we must not lose sight of our day-to-day business: The referendum against the new Swiss Military Equipment Act has been launched. This means that the Swiss citizens will vote on this issue as early as fall 2026. That is why the defense and aerospace industry will be the focus of our General Assembly on Saturday, June 20.

Both events will be held at the AIR FORCE CENTER in Dübendorf, Zurich. Seize the opportunity to foster comradeship and celebrate the culture of the Swiss Air Force with us on June 19 and 20, 2026.

I look forward to welcoming you as our guest of honor and to greeting you in person in Dübendorf, along with your spouse or partner, if you wish.

Very Respectfully

Colonel (O-6/OF-5) Jorge V. Pardo

President, AVIA – Officers Association of the Swiss Air Force
